Below that, you’ll see a phone number, address, and opening time. Finally, in the bottom red frame, you’ll see links to their Facebook, Instagram, Yelp, and Trip Advisor pages.
Going through navigation options, the first option you’ll come to is for creating a reservation. Run through Resy, you can make the reservations right online. Both menus list wines, cocktails, beer, starters and small plates, fresh salads, sandwiches, sides, and even kid options. For primary meals, they offer beef, seafood, pasta, chicken, ribs, and desserts. The lunch menu presents many options, and the dinner menu offers even more. If you prefer to order online, you can also connect to that service from the website.

Mike’s American offers a beautiful restaurant to customers, and the website compliments that beauty. The navigation on the website is also very seamless. You’ll be able to navigate easily to any portion of the website you wanted. If you’ve fallen in love with Mike’s American menu, you can even order your favorite menu items online. The online ordering feature includes some images of the food, but the rest of the website could use more images of the delicious offerings.

Hard Times Cafe touts itself as “The American Chili Parlor.” Upon opening the website, you’ll immediately see their delicious food offerings in a running slide show of images across the page. Their Tagline, “Chili. Wings. Burgers. Sports.” gives visitors an instant glimpse into what the restaurant is all about. Following their tagline down the page, you’ll see links for food, specials, story, and even email sign up. You can access these options by clicking on “Store.” They also make it easy to purchase a physical gift card and check its balance whenever you’d like.
As a longtime favorite of its neighborhood, Hard Times Cafe does a wonderful job sharing its backstory and history on its website. This is clearly the heart and soul of this restaurant, and it is reflected well on the website. It is also easy to find the menu, various locations, and order online. However, while they do have some photos on their website, they are a little on the darker side. Making these lighter would help a great deal.

Upon opening the Silver Diner website, you’ll immediately understand the vibe they’re going for. With the traditional diner feel and updated menu to speak to today’s customers, The Silver Diner’s website delivers on both. The scrolling slide show of images on the front page features a peek into the restaurant with its cozy booths and classic tiled floors. Then, you begin taking in all of their options. In blue, across the top of the page, you’ll see the navigation that takes you to menus, locations, careers, about, contact, and even an ordering page. When it comes to the menu options, diners have plenty of options, including seasonal selections, appetizers, salads, soups, burgers, sandwiches, flexitarian options, entrees, breakfast, brunch, shakes, beverages, kids menu, desserts, and even cocktails. For those interested in catering, those options are also available with allergen information. Each menu option takes you to a crisp, well-organized page that even parses out heart-healthy, vegetarian, plant-based/vegan, and gluten-free options.
You’ll see many available options in the locations section between Marland, Virginia, New Jersey, and Washington D.C. For each location, you’ll see photos of the location, hours, amenities, the service they provide, and the menus available at that location. For the About section, you’ll see choices for their story, food philosophy, community, news stories, and a gallery. In these sections, you’ll learn that the Silver Diner strives to source their ingredients locally and take care of the community around them. With such an extensive network of locations, the Silver Diner offers many choices when it comes to careers, and prospective applicants can search for and apply for jobs right on the site. In addition, the Contact area has plenty of ways to reach out in case you need to discuss something with the restaurant. There’s even a kids club for the little ones to join!
The Silver Diner has been a popular restaurant in the northeast for some time, and in the last few years, it has rapidly expanded. Now moving to a more health-conscious and farm-to-table philosophy, it has become even more popular. This website is easy to navigate, find locations, and create orders on. There are fabulous pictures of the staff and food throughout, but we think it could be even more improved with some video content.

Della J's Delectables
Della J’s Delectables is a homestyle, southern food restaurant with a modern twist. The website prominently features a view of the restaurant as you want in, ans as you scroll down the page, you’ll see the rest of the website. To easily navigate between the sections, utilize the top menu bar to visit a section on the restaurant’s story, their menus, bar menu, catering service, online ordering, news, contact information, and even reviews. The reviews section will take you to Yelp to see first hand accounts and recommendations for your experience.
In the first section you come to, you’ll read about Jerry and how the restaurant came to be from their mother’s own cooking. Accompanying the story are photos of some food offerings. In the next area, you’ll see the menu options with descriptions and pieces. There are menus that include sections on starters, soups and salads, sandwiches and subs, entrees, sides, kid’s meals, desserts, and beverages. Next, you’ll come to the bar and wine selection, where you’ll see several options for specialty drinks, including “Della J’s Tennessee Juice” and “Jerry’s Punch.” As a full-service restaurant, they also have many catering options, which are also listed on the website. Like most restaurants, they offer online ordering and the purchase of electronic gift cards on the website. Finally, since the restaurant is such a local favorite, it is frequently in the news, so those featured articles are included on their site as well.
This rather simple website does a great job of sharing the story of Della J’s, and their many photos also help sell visitors on the food offerings. However, even though the website does a nice job sharing the restaurant’s story, there is certainly more to tell, as one would see upon visiting the restaurant. We would like to see some of that information and those photos to find their way to this webpage.
5
Sandwich Republic
Sandwich Republic is a hidden, local gem is a favorite among locals. On the front landing page, you’ll see the restaurant’s logo atop a beautiful sandwich. There’s nothing super sparkly here: just well-made food. Across the top, you have options to navigate toward the about section, locations, menu, catering, specials, and an online ordering area.
In the about area, you’ll see the simple mission of sandwich republic: combine fresh ingredients to create good food. The location section takes you to a map, phone, email, location, and hours of their location in Springfield, Virginia. The menu offers a simple listing of the sandwiches, salads, and kid’s menu. Even though they are rather small, their catering menu is also pretty substantial. For the daily special, you’ll see that the page takes you to a screen that displays the restaurant’s facebook page. And lastly, Sandwich Republic also offers guests online ordering to get their sandwich fix even quicker.
This sweet sandwich shop has a simple, but thorough, website that shares a lot of great information. Known for the unusual flavor combinations and traditional favorites, it is no wonder locals love this one. While the website is simple, we think it could benefit from more food photos and a clearer font color at the top of the main page. It can be difficult to make out the navigation options if you do not know they are there.
